Most people don't think much about the position of their head until they develop neck pain, headaches, or shoulder stiffness. However, proper cervical alignment is one of the most important—and most overlooked—aspects of good posture, efficient movement, and effective exercise.


Whether you're sitting at a desk, driving, looking at your phone, or lifting weights, the position of your head influences nearly every movement your body performs. Poor cervical posture doesn't just affect your neck—it can create problems from your shoulders all the way down to your feet.

What Is Proper Cervical Alignment?


The cervical spine consists of seven vertebrae (C1-C7) that naturally form a gentle inward curve called cervical lordosis. In an ideal posture:

Instead of your skeleton supporting your head efficiently, your muscles are forced to work continuously just to keep your eyes level.

One of the best exercises for strengthening the deep neck flexors.
