The glutes—comprised of the gluteus maximus, medius, and minimus—are the powerhouse muscles of your posterior chain. More than just aesthetics, the glutes play a critical role in almost every major lower body movement.


The gluteus maximus is the largest and strongest muscle in the body. It’s responsible for hip extension, which powers movements like squats, deadlifts, lunges, sprinting, and jumping. The gluteus medius and minimus help with hip abduction and stabilization, keeping your pelvis level during walking, running, and single-leg movements.


Weak or underactive glutes can lead to imbalances and compensations, often contributing to lower back pain, poor posture, and inefficient movement patterns. That's why glute activation and strength work are essential—not just for athletes, but for anyone aiming to move well and stay injury-free.
